Travel Soccer

What is Travel Soccer?

EYSA also offers a traveling soccer program which is a more competitive atmosphere where your son or daughter will compete with teams across southern Wisconsin.

Games are sanctioned though the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA) League and teams are placed in tiers to align relative skill and experience within each age group.  Coaches are required to obtain a US Soccer coaching license and required to follow Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) rules and mandated training curriculum when it comes to coaching your child.

Traveling soccer is more disciplined and provides more concise training regiment to enhance your child’s development. EYSA typically has traveling soccer for the following age groups (as long as there is sufficient enrollment) for both boys and girls – under 10, under 12, under 14 and under 19 (high school age)

The following information will help to answer a few questions about the travel program:

  • No tryout but Traveling soccer requires a higher level of commitment!
  • Practices typically are about 1-1.5 hrs two nights during the week
  • A season of travel soccer consists of playing in the fall and following spring (actually two seasons!)
  • Each spring and fall season consists of 8 total games (4 home / 4 away)
  • Expect away games to be up to 1 hour away for travel purposes.
  • Games are played typically on Saturdays and Sundays during the season, unless there is reschedule which could result in a weekday game.
  • Games can be played in less than ideal conditions (rain, snow, cold, etc) unless deemed unsafe (i.e. extreme wind chill or lightning)

What is the Cost to play travel soccer?

Our fees this year will start at $225, with discounts available to those who qualify.  Yes, the cost is more than our “In-House” program but you are paying league sanction fees, licensed officials, referee assignor, field maintenance, EYSA administration cost to register your child and a uniform which includes a team jersey and shorts.

I would like have my child to participate in traveling soccer.  What would be their age group?

US Soccer has modified the age requirements and teams are now determined by birth year.  Please review the table below in order for you to appropriately identify the age group your son or daughter will participate in.  Typically boys and girls play separately but depending on enrollment Edgerton Youth Soccer may combine genders if needed.  Enrollment may also dictate that players are playing up a group (i.e. a u10 player by birth year may play at the u12 level).

For the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 Season we are looking for the following player groups (birth year):

  • u10 boys (2014 and younger)
  • u10 girls (2014 and younger)
  • u11 boys (2013)
  • u11 girls (2013)
  • u12 boys (2012)
  • u12 girls (2012)
  • u14 boys (2010 - 2011)
  • u14 girls (2010 - 2011)
  • u19 girls, FALL Only (2009 and older)
  • u19 boys, SPRING Only (2009 and older)
